This reflection document accompanies a history resource I created for the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) to teach youth & educators about the history and activism of queer people of colour at 101 Dewson Street. The creation of this booklet was funded in part by Canadian Heritage. You can download the booklet on CCGSD's website or below.
101 Dewson Street in Toronto was a hub of 2SLGBTQIA+ activism. Specifically attuned to the realities and needs of Black and queer people of colour, activists operating out of 101 Dewson Street created important organizations, events, and art calling for change.
In this reflections booklet, I make connections to current day Black 2SLGBTQ+ activism and call on the critical work of Black scholars.
